After a long time of dreaming, I finally have new pedals for my bike. Bought online from Performance Bikes, I installed my new Crank Bros. Eggbeater pedals as soon as we got home.
Being one of the last parts from my original bike, I had a nostalgic moment removing the old Shimano M747 clipless pedals. Removing the cleats from the shoe took all the nostalgia away though. Being stuck there for probably four years, I had to take good care that the allen bolt heads won’t loose thread. This took longer than taking out the pedals themselves.
When everything was installed, I finally sat on the saddle and clipped in. The pedals’ float was more knee friendly than my old one. Compared to Shimano’s 6 degree-float, the Eggbeaters have 15 degrees of play before you can disengage. Of course everything has to be tested in the trail.
Now I can’t wait.
