Office Irony

Isn’t it ironic that even though we have raised flooring, we still utilize under-the-carpet network cabling?

The Find

I’m excited with my new find. First I thought I would be using Johnny Air’s service since the charges for direct shipping to the Philippines is way too much for any sane person to agree. (Can you beieve it’s cheaper to have it shipped to the US and then have it shipped here through Johnny than having it shipped here directy?)

Then lo and behold, I found a dealer from one of the online fora I frequently visit and their price isn’t bad at all. It’s about a thousand pesos cheaper than if I order online and have it shipped here. All that minus the hassle. Of course I took it! I reserved it today and will probably pick it up this weekend.

What is it? Secret. :)

Don’t you just love the information age?

The Wigo Vicious Cycle

I was in Rockwell today to watch the new James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace. Before heading to the cinemas, we decided to have dinner at Wild Ginger.

While waiting for the food, I pulled out my iPod Touch and saw that there’s free internet access inside the mall courtesy of Wigo. So under “settings”, I added the Wigo signal to my device and it got connected after a second or two. Not bad.

Now when I launched my browser, it opened to the Wigo log in page, where you can enter your username and password or sign up for a free account. Having no account yet, I clicked on that “sign up” link and entered all the details in the page’s fields. Here’s the rub – after signing up, you will have to click on an activation URL that they send to the email address you provided. How am I supposed to do that if I don’t have internet access in the first place?

Hmmmm. Seems like the page needs to be reevaluated by a usability person.

On Celebrators and Celebrants

I got pissed with our HR today when I saw the list of birthday celebrators for the month of November. Not only was it posted late, it was also incomplete.

It’s Pink’s birthday on the 12th but it wasn’t there on the list. This is not the first time it happened. Nap and EJ’s birthdays weren’t on the lists they posted a few months back.

So what is this? Do they draw lots to see which IJMs’ names get posted there? Is it because of the limited space? Just imagine yourself in the shoes of an IJM who’s not getting paid a lot. I wonder how you would feel when you see your name not on the list.

We don’t want a fancy birthday list on our company bulletin board. An excel sheet with the names and the dates will do. We’re all grown ups anyway. What’s important is that this list is posted on time and that everyone who should be there should be there, regardless if that person is the managing director or the office cleaner.

Blogging from my new toy

It’s the first of November and we decided to just stay at home instead of braving the drive to the province to visit our dead. Honestly, I believe that you don’t have to be in the cemetery as long as you remember them.

And so here I am blogging away using a blogging app from the App Store. Yes, I am blogging from my new iPod Touch – an early Christmas/birthday gift from Charo.

We’ll be going to the Pen’s chocolate buffet tonight. Again. This is our second one. We’ll be joined by Bunny, Kookie, Lester, Gina and some other people.

That’s about it got now.
