Down from the hill

I’m glad I’m finally home after the two-day planning for our initiatives next year. Even though we were all seated in the room almost the whole time, it was tiring and quite draining. We had to line up our plans, put timelines, know what type of technology we need, and then, of course, project how much revenue we have to generate from these.

From this exercise, I realized that I’m happy to be planning for online now. With all the web 2.0 technologies around, there is so much we can do to deliver our content to our customer. Comparing this with my previous stint in mobile, It’s quite refreshing to have no third-party restrictions.

Down from the hill that is Antipolo, the next thing to do is the most dificult part – making these happen. I’m planning to cascade all the learnings to my team next week (since most of them are on vacation this week). Then it would be time to sit down with the various groups and talk about the nitty gritty part.

The Return of Magasin?

From web we came and to web we shall return.

Oh dear oldies, remember Magasin – your little community section in dear old ABS-CBN.com, which we ported to PinoyCentral? Well, now that we’re absorbing ABS-CBN Global’s website, I’m bring back this section, albeit with a different title.

No timelines yet as we’re still presenting the wireframes for tomorrow’s meeting, but it will be very soon.

Oooohhhhh! Memoraazzz!

SEO and other shit

I’m getting really impressed with how my search engine optimization measures are doing on my other blog, Bisikleta. Hosted only on Blogger, what I did was played with the site’s meta tags and added a lot of appropriate keywords. I also made sure that the article’s subject is stated clearly on the title. Of course, I added tags on each of the blog entries. Now, I’m getting the top search results for items pertaining to local cycling, like the recently concluded Ride with Pride race in the La Mesa Nature Reserve.

Of course with SEO comes Google Adwords. Well, I’m not earning a lot as my site traffic is still quite small, but I’m hoping that will change as I add more content and begin posting my URLs to various cycling forum and sites.

I’m crossing my fingers.

Retracing the Ani Mo, Ani Ko fun run course

The last time I ran the Ani Mo, Ani Ko fun run was in third year high school. The course what quite simple – from the high school parking lot, it takes you around the Bellarmine field then back to Masterson Drive, straight to Gate 2 and then around the Blue Eagle Gym going to the grade school parking area before taking a right to Masterson and straight back to the High School.

I was pretty much fit then with a more chiseled abs than what I have now. I didn’t have a timer then but I remembered I placed my ID in the 18 to 24 minutes box.

Fast forward to tonight. In celebration of the 2008 UAAP Basketball Championship (yeah right!), I decided to see how much time it will take me to run the same course. And so I did.

How did I do? Nothing really exciting. It’s just 17 minutes and 54 seconds. I think I can still push this further but now let me just bask in the glory of topping a personal best.

Back to La Mesa

Today was a great mountain bike ride in the La Mesa Nature Reserve. At first it was supposed to be with Marose and the rest of the Kapamilya bikers but we eventually ended joining the merry band of Globe bikers instead.

Yes, that’s a we – me and Jun Punzal, our admin officer in the office. It was his first time to go on a real trail riding so he was excited with the whole thing. Well, it didn’t last that long. In a slippery downhill stretch, he lost control and crashed. He’s OK but his bike wasn’t. His rear brake levers got damaged. It was too risky for him to carry on so he was forced to abort at Tower 5. Too bad for him. But I think he somehow got his money’s worth. There’s always a next time.

Our ride ended at exactly twelve noon and it was so much fun. I’m laspag but still OK. Maybe next time we’ll ride the longer stretch of singletrack heading to the parking area.

I haven’t uploaded the whole map of the ride on MotionBased.com. I’ll probably post it as soon as I have it.

Storycon Mania

Tomorrow is the great storycon day for the team. From Monday to Thursday, we only plan for the next day’s content. Fridays are different. During this day, we have to plan for the next three days – Saturday, Sunday and Monday. The exercise really drains you especially on slow showbiz news days. I’m just glad that Paolo finally approved on getting contributors to get the hotter stories for us. Now we can focus more on the other sections of the site.

The First Day of October

It’s the first day of October and there’s no work in celebration of the feast of Ramadan. I was hoping on doing short run to start the day but God does not approve. I’m thinking He wants me to rather stay in bed and so he brought this new typhoon to the Philippine area of responsibility to stop my plans. Come to think of it, I think His idea is excellent.

This is my blog entry after a long time of no entries. I’m still pretty pissed that I’ve exceeded my disk quota for this free account, but then I figured, to hell with it. I’ll probably upgrade after I clear up my credit card bill. But until then, let their servers get fed up with me trying to upload new entries.

Welcome me back, guys. :)
