National Holidays for 2008

Planning that vacation but don’t know where to start? Perhaps this might help. It’s a PDF document declaring the regular holidays and special non-working holidays for 2008.

Temporary Relief

Whew! I was finally able to pay half of my credit card and my full mobile phone subscription bills yesterday and it felt so good. A big thank you to my mother-in-law (Yes, I am thankful I have great in-laws) for depositing my money to my checking account in Metrobank. Because of that, I was able to pay my bills online while I’m in the office. Now those collectors won’t be bothering me for a while.

I wouldn’t say that I don’t want to pay my bills. On the contrary, I really want to give them the money and get things over and done with so I won’t have to worry about anything anymore. It’s the hassle of transferring funds that more of a bottleneck for me. Before, when I was working in that not-so-start-up company, I would get my salary from the same back. So all I had to do was transfer from one account to the other, click some links and it’s finished. Now, coming from Equitable-PCI Bank, there’s no functionality (yet) to pay for my bills from the BDO ATM. (Plus add the fact that I don’t like doing business with these guys.) So I have to withdraw and transfer.

Now that I can ask for a favor from my mom-in-law every month, I think things will start getting paid on time again.

There You Are!

Oh hello, iPod! It seemed like a long time since I last saw you.

I guess you can blame it on wizard Steve Jobs and his merry men of designers. They gave you a very sexy body with a really shiny back – very beautiful. But this is your curse. They guaranteed that you’ll be obsolete in a few months time, and so the moment I use you in the real world, you scratch easily. Because of this, I have little choice but to encase you in a horrendous silicone case made in Taiwan.

Be not afraid, my love, for those days are over now, thanks to the guys at GMask. With their protective film, you stay safe but without the bulkiness of your previous cases. Now I can appreciate your beauty without the worry of you getting scratched.

And now we ride into the sunset.

Awwwww.

My Pucha Incident

I won’t exactly say that I blew it. On the contrary, I found it hilarious – an out-of-the-box presentation, something I’m sure he wasn’t expecting.

I am talking, of course, about my first time to present to the company’s CEO. Yes, I did a nice presentation to the big man himself about the launch of the new website as well as what we’re doing with Multiply.

At first I was telling him how cool the new website is with all the new multimedia features. I showed him the main pages of the three main sections and then told him about the timelines. It went pretty well as there were no comments and I can see that he was looking intently at each of the pages I show in the slide.

This made me so hyped up and excited – which caused my big booboo. As I presented the first thing we did with Multiply, my energy was at its peak that I blurted the word “pucha” when I was describing how active the community was.

The room was silent for about a couple of seconds and then everyone laughed!

Ooops!

Good thing he was in a good mood at that time. And so he asked, “O Pucha! Saan ba galling ang mga ‘yan?”

Hehehehe!

After the presentation, he asked me where I learned to use that word. He thought all the while that it was an old word already and that only the oldies were using it.

I just smiled.

Ayus! I’m sure I made an impression. Now as to whether Paolo will allow me to present to him again is another question.

Now they call me Mr. Pucha in the office.

Hehehehehe!

The Amazing Race Asia 2 Finale

In the end, it all boiled down to one’s knowledge in world flags. All the advantages of Marc and Rovilson before the roadblock were erased and, in the final pit stop, it was Adrian and Colin from Singapore who took the $100,000 prize followed by Malaysians Vanessa and (I can’t remember). Yes, the two boys from the Philippines took third spot.

The race is over but I’m sure the buzz won’t die down for at least a week. I tried logging in to the official website but I’ve been getting a page not found error – proof that the audience is queuing up for their turn at the message board. Even the AXN site is down. Oooohhh, their web team must be having a hell of a situation tonight! Hehehehe!

Now if there’s anyone interested in auditioning for the third season, I’m game. We’ve got till the 25th of this month to send our application.

Feel the Love, Baby!

Tomorrow is Valentine’s day and it seems everyone is getting ready. When I picked up Karen this morning, the little flower shop at the corner of Katipunan Road is all ready for the big day with big flower arrangements lined up outside the store. PHIVOLCS installed spankin’ new seismographs in the Pasig and Pasay areas to measure the love tremors for tomorrow’s big day. Hotels and fine dining establishments are starting to get fully booked. Of course, the whole Metro is bracing itself for the humongous gridlock.

As for me, I have no plans of going somewhere tomorrow. What I’m planning to do is go to work early so I can leave early and try to avoid the heavy traffic to watch the season finale of The Amazing Race Asia 2. I’ve been following this show since it started that I didn’t even bother watching the latest season of The Amazing Race.

Maybe we’ll go out on the weekend, probably lunch or dinner at a hotel buffet place we haven’t tried.

Feel the love, people. Feel the love.

Alabang Drive

Yesterday’s drive to Alabang was terrible. I was hoping that it would be a bit lighter. Apparently it was the opposite when I touched South not-so- Highway coming from C5. There was really no single cause for the crawl from Nichols to Alabang. The volume of vehicles traversing the outdated highway was just too much.

I crossed my fingers and hoped it would be a bit better on our way back, but I guess my prayer wasn’t that powerful. It was bumper-to-bumper from the Filinvest exit and eased up a bit after the Bicutan Skyway bottleneck.

How thankful I am that I wouldn’t have to endure this every day on my way to work.

The Office

It’s evil, I know, but it’s my way of fighting for those whom she borrowed money from. There’s no solid company policy against this because it’s between two parties who initially agreed on it, but if we can prevent her from further victimizing other people in the office then this campaign would be a success.

Banco de Oro Sucks

If I can have it my way, I would pull out the company’s account from BDO and put it to another bank that’s more dependable. BDO fucking sucks! They may have a big network of ATMs and they may be connected to other banks’ networks, but it’s useless because they’re offline most of the time.

I went out today to withdraw money but ALL the Banco de Fucking Oro ATMs in the Katipunan area were unable to dispense cash. Now what kind of a fucking service is that?! I even tried on other banks’ ATMs and it won’t work!

If, like me, you’re fed up with BDO’s service and you have no choice because this is where your salary comes in, what you can do is withdraw everything every payday and transfer it to a bank that has better service. It’s very tedious, I know, but if you let your money stay in their vaults, BDO would be using it to their gain and acquire more little banks to spread their lousy service.
